Official Call Mass Meeting of the Bedford Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia
As Chairman of the Bedford County Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization, and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Nathan M. Boyer, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at Bedford Lions Community Center, 1577 E. Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike, Bedford VA 24523, or alternate location, on March 7, 2020 or alternate date, beginning at 10:30 a.m. for the following purposes:
a) Electing a Unit Chairman;
b) Electing members of the Unit Committee;
c) Electing up to 470 Delegates and an equal number of alternates to the 6th Congressional District Convention at Central High School, 1147 Susan Avenue, Woodstock, VA 22664, or alternate location, starting at 10:00 A.M. local time on May 30, 2020, or alternate date, for the following purposes: A. Electing three (3) National Delegates and three (3) National Alternates from the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia to the Republican National Convention; B. Nominating one (1) Elector from the Sixth Congressional District of Virginia to be voted for in the presidential election on November 3, 2020; C. Electing a Chairman for the Sixth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia; D. Electing three (3) Regional Vice Chairmen for the Sixth Congressional District of the Republican Party of Virginia; E. Electing three (3) members to the State Central Committee from the Sixth Congressional District; F. The transaction of such other business that may properly come before the Sixth Congressional District Republican Convention.
d) Electing up to 555 delegates and an equal number of alternates to the 5th Congressional District Convention on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Tree of Life Ministries, 2812 Greenview Drive Lynchburg, VA 24502 OR alternate site if necessary for the following purposes:
a Election of 3 National Delegates for the 2020 Republican National Convention
b Election of 3 Alternate National Delegates for the 2020 Republican National Convention
c Election of 3 State Central Committee Members
d Election of 1 Elector for the 2020 Presidential Election
e Election of District Committee Chairman
f Election of Candidate for 2020 Congressional Election
g) Transaction of such other business as may properly come before the Convention
e) Electing up to 1025 Delegates and an equal number of alternates to the Republican Party of Virginia’s 2020 Quadrennial Convention to be held at the Liberty University Vines Center, or its alternate location, on May 1-2, 2020 for the following purposes:
A. Binding Virginia Delegates to the 2020 Republican National Convention as to their choice for President on the first ballot by a Presidential Preference Poll;
B. Electing 12 At-Large Delegates (“National Delegates”) and 12 At-Large Alternate Delegates (“National Alternates”) to the Republican National Convention to be held on August 24-27, 2020 at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, NC in (or its alternate site) (the “National Convention”);
C. Nominating two Electors At-Large to be voted for in the presidential election on November 3, 2020;
D. Electing a State Chairman;
E. Nominating a National Committeeman and National Committeewoman;
F. And for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the Convention.
f) and for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the mass meeting.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters in the County of Bedford under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Candidates for election as Unit Chairman at said mass meeting shall pay a filing fee of $100.00 payable to Republican Party of Bedford and shall declare their candidacy in writing with a statement of their intent to support all the party’s nominees in the 2020 General Election cycle by mail or in person no later than 7:00 p.m. on February 7 2020, to Veronica Shikoski, Secretary at 303 Westwood Dr, Forest VA 24551, postmarks do not govern.
Pre-file forms for those seeking membership to the Bedford Republican Unit Committee or who wish to be elected as delegates for the 5th District Convention or 6th District Convention or for the 2020 Quadrennial Convention of the Republican Party of Virginia are attached. Individuals
shall pre-file by submitting the attached forms and any voluntary fees and or membership dues by mail or in person to Veronica Shikoski, Secretary at 303 Westwood Dr, Forest VA 24551 by February 26, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.; postmarks do not govern.
There will be no nominations from the floor for any office being elected at the mass meeting.
Doors open for registration at 9:30 a.m.
Registration will close promptly at 10:30 a.m., voters in line by 10:30 a.m. may register and participate.
If not more than the number of persons to be nominated or elected shall be filed for any office, then such properly filed persons shall be declared nominated or elected as the case may be, and no election will occur for that office. Should all elections be cancelled, the Mass Meeting will also be cancelled. A notice of cancellation will be posted on the website of the Republican Party of Virginia
There will be no registration fee to participate in the Mass Meeting.
Membership dues for the Bedford Republican Committee are 20.00 annually and are not optional, first year dues to be paid upon application for election at the mass meeting, payable to Republican Party of Bedford.
